A Ciguapa (pronounced see-GWAH-pah) is a mythological creature of Dominican folklore. She has a human female form with dark blue skin and a long mane of smooth, glossy hair that covers the entire length of her naked body. Her feet face backward, making her impossible to track. Much like a mermaid, she is beautiful yet cruel and far from innocent. She uses her beauty, sensuality, and hypnotic stare to lure the wayward traveler back to her deep cave, where she consumes him to the bare bones or traps him forever for her carnal pleasures.
